Fat People Aren't Ugly

I have a friend who is overweight. The thing is, I've been friends with her for so long that sometimes I kinda forget that she's overweight. I talk about wanting to be skinny (even though I'm half her weight) just like a normal girl, without being sensitive towards how she might feel. She might think I'm such a bitch for running my mouth off but you know, I think it's better that I don't treat her any differently than I would any other girl. I'd rather not talk about these issues with so much scrutiny and make her feel more like an outcast just because she's overweight. She's no different than us. So it bugs me when there are people who are grossed out by overweight people. I admit that I wouldn't wanna be that size myself. But who are we to say that fat people are ugly? Once, we were all walking down the road and I caught a guy making a really disgusted look when he passed my friend. I felt like slapping him in the face. But lucky for HIM! I was kinda tipsy at the moment and was not in the right state to give him a bitch slap. It still bothers me though.

I just don't see her as fat. I see her as a person who just has difficulties losing weight, just like any other woman. No matter how skinny or fat we women are, we're always gonna have weight problems. We're women!

By the end of the day, we're all fat anyways right. We can be skinny one day and suddenly a certain top will make us look fat and there we are go, eating only crackers and milo for the next three days. Until we feel skinny again and the cycle goes on.

Babe, if you're reading this, just know that you're beautiful inside out and that you're loved no matter what! And to all those people who think you're ugly, they're just insecure bitches who need to feel beautiful by feeding off other people's insecurities. We're not like them. We're awesome!

Do I Look Ugly?

Like everyone else, I have my insecure days. Days when I feel abso-effing-lutely fugly. Days when I feel fat. Days when none of my clothes look flattering on me. Days when my hair just doesn't seem to fall right. Days when makeup wouldn't even help. Days when I just wanna stay at home and wear t-shirt and sweats because that's the only look that fits my mood; Fugly!

I know most of you girls and maybe guys too, have one time or another felt the same way. No matter how beautiful you are, there are times that you just feel ugly. And I totally understand. I might not have a psychology degree to tell you how to NOT feel ugly. But what I do have is the internet, and I found this great article on how to deal with feeling ugly and how to come to terms with it.

I suggest everyone to take some time to read the articles. I don't know about you but when I feel ugly, I become terribly feisty! I tend to ask, "Do I look ugly?" but of course no one would ever say "Yes!" and it ticks me off even more! Goshh.. women! LOL! So yeah, these articles do help, so do read 'em k!

Let's not let height dictate what is beautiful. So fine, we're not 5'10 and supermodel skinny but hey, we're still gorgeous baby! If you don't feel beautiful being short, well maybe these 10 reasons would now give you all the reason to take the bull by its horns and flaunt your shortiness.

1. We're in Malaysia and guys are short too!
2. We don't need to buy meters and meters of material to make our baju kurung.
3. Petite is cute!
4. We can wear awesome 5 inch heels and not tower over people.
5. We have better posture than taller people cuz we don't hafta slouch all the time.
6. Men can carry us easily.
7. We don't hafta squeeze our legs in tight economy class flights.
8. We can always ask a hot hunk to help us reach that darn cereal box s on high supermarket shelves.

Don't give all those tall lanky girls the reason to think they've got it all. Be confident, stand tall, and own the world because hunnie, life is short! And so are we! So embrace it and enjoy life!

Oh dearrrr... look at my poor old blog!! I've been so caught up with two of my other blogs that I've totally abandoned this one. It almost feels like I've been cheating on this blog. I think it's high time I change the layout of this blog as well. Maybe if I spruce it up a bit, I might not ditch this blog too often. Or maybe I just owe it to this blog for neglecting it. So what better way to make it up than to give a new layout! Just like ordinary girls. You can always make it up to us with new clothes! hehe.. Okay, maybe I'm just speaking for myself.

So what have I been up to since the last I updated? Well.. I did a lot of online shopping of course! I love the Bitten handbag that I bought months ago. I put everything in there and the material is so nice. Other than that, I bought my wayfarers from eBay as well. I bought a couple of maxies online and you know how big they are this season. Every gal must get a maxi before they become so 2008! These are mine..

I love em both and I'm planning to get more! I also bought shoes! I'm totally loving these shoes! I was actually on the prowl for gladiator sandals but fell in love with this instead!

Hmmm.. what else.. I bought another really cute shirt dress. Shirt dresses are also very classy and is a total must! Especially if you're going vintage! I think that's about it. I haven't been online shopping since August so that's pretty miraculous, even for me. I've been avoiding eBay cuz I don't wanna spend more dollars! I'll just use my ringgit and shop here instead. I dunno when that'll be cuz I'm tryna save for a vacation.

For all you shopaholics out there, especially the ones residing in Malaysia, you have got to give 'Springfield' a visit! If you have, then good for you! And if you haven't, then you better get your butts over to their stores in The Gardens and also Pavillion. I actually stumbled upon their store by chance and their clothes totally caught my attention! They have really pretty dresses, tees, scarves, belts, and their shoes are really really cute! Best thing is, it's not expensive at all! And if you purchase any of their items before 30th June 2008, you'd be entitled to a 20% discount!! So do check it out!! I dunno about you, but I certainly love their clothes!

Confidence is Beautiful!

As most of us all know, there's nothing worse than meeting a person without any self-confidence. I don't know about you, but a person without any self-confidence can really turn me off. I don't like meeting people for the first time and there's no eye contact. I don't like shaking hands with a person who seems to be dead in the hands! It's a real turn-off.

That said, I know it's not exactly a trait that everyone is born with. Not everyone exurbs self-confidence that radiates throughout the room whenever they walk in. However, for those who lack self-confidence, don't succumb to it and retreat by staying in your room all day long. All is not lost! You can easily build your self-confidence if you just step out of your comfort box once in a while..

I hope you guys take the time to read these great articles. And the next time you meet up with a new person, try not to divert your eyes and look at a blank space! Everybody has their own insecurities and not everyone is perfect. Remember that confidence is beautiful!

Shemah Bit Me!

A few months ago, Shemah just got herself Bitten by Sarah Jessica Parker. Okay, wait.. that didn't sound right.. LOL! Lemme rephrase.. Shemah got herself a really cool vest from SJP's brand, Bitten! She was raving on and on about it and was practically giving out free advertising for SJP. Well, I didn't bother to get 'bitten' until a few weeks ago when I realized that I didn't have a bag! Well, of course I do have a bag but I didn't have one that was just plain and one-colored. And to be honest, I actually wanted a bag to go with the dress I just bought.. Since the dress was so bohemian, I figured I hadta get a plain bag, maybe brown!

So I began browsing through Ebay again in search of a really nice, plain, and most importantly, cheap! bag... Not long after, I found myself landing on this bag here...

I instantly fell for the bag and wanted it all to myself!! I just love the color, even though it's not brown... Hehe.. So what else did I do?? I bought it!! I didn't even bother bidding for the bag. After all, I thought it was a real steal for only $37.54 + shipping costs! You'd buy it too right???

So now, all I gotta do is wait for the arrival of my bag! I can't wait to have my hands on it!

Gosh, I'm really getting bad at maintaining all my blogs, especially this one here! I really gotta step up my game! The thing is, I have so many ideas, so many stuff to blog about, and also so much time! But I don't know why I just cant get around to putting all my thoughts into words. In the end, nothing is updated and I feel so bad about it! Poor blog!! Forgive me ok.. I'm still tryna get a hang of this.. Suddenly I feel like a guy with three wives!!

Not all of us were born with the superhero ability to be able to look good in any kinda haircut thrown at us! If you're a normal gal like me, then you'd agree that some of us MIGHT look pretty ugly with the latest Cleopatra fringe that almost everyone is sporting nowadays! Some girls are so into the trend that they don't even care if they look like they're wearing a helmet... Worse thing is, their girlfriends don't even tell 'em the nasty truth!

So let's face it! Not all haircuts were meant to be sported~! There's so many stuff on my wishlist that consists of mostly clothes!! LOL! And since spring is the season for bright colors, I've been eying so many colorful dresses! It's so hard not to bid on all of 'em! I'm now looking for something yellow and purple just like the pictures below... I haven't found any that's really calling out to me though..

Ever since I could remember, my mom has always dressed me up in the girliest way known to mankind. I think the fact that she had me after 2 boys made her go all out on me even more! She made me wear cute lil smocking dresses with white patterned pantyhoes and black mary-jane shoes. That's as girly as it could get.

Nowadays though, I hardly see little girls dressed in dresses and pantyhoes. I see most girls dressed in jeans, cute tops, and even wedged heels! I'm not saying it's wrong... I'm just saying that I guess times have changed. Little girls used to be dressed in the cutest way possible. Our mothers actually made us look like real life dolls!

That's why I'm pretty adamant in seeing my 4 month old niece dress up how my sister and I used to. And my sister agrees with me as well.. No tight leggings, and halter tops for this lil girl! LOL!

The sun is out and at this moment, don't you just wish you had Rihanna's legs?? Long, lean, bronze, and oh so sexy! It's no wonder why she loves to wear dresses. I would too if I had those legs. I love her legs. If only, you know.. If only.. With those legs + the weather, it's absolutely the perfect time to get those short shorts and those frilly skirts out and flaunt what your Mama gave ya. Or not. Cuz don't fret girls. You don't have to be tall, slim, or Barbadian for that matter. All you need is to follow these 5 simple steps that Cosmo has in store for you.

1. Go Bare

How else would your legs look hot and sexy if not by going bare? Yeap, do whatever you gotta do to keep it hairless! Shave, Wax, Lather, anything! Just remember to use a really sharp razor if you decide to shave. Using a razor that's got 3 or 4 blades is certainly the best! Also, opt to shave right after you're done showering and everything. It's best to shave when the hair is softer and easier to remove. Remember to hold the skin taut and shave in the opposite direction of hair growth. Oh, and always use a shaving cream! Never attempt to shave without any lubricating cream. That would cause irritation, and worse of all, ingrown hair!

If you're the type that can stand a bit more pain, then you should definitely consider waxing. It's way better than shaving since it removes hair from the follicle and it keeps your legs bare longer than just a few days!

2. Soften the Skin

Scrub up. Like my Mommy always says, "Never forget to scrub," she tells me. She swears by her weekly scrubs and I gotta tell you, her skin is way softer than mine. At an age double of mine, I gotta say that that really is impressive! So as her advice, SCRUB SCRUB SCRUB! Be sure to get a gentle exfoliating body scrub that has moisturizing oils to prevent dryness and dullness. Also, don't forget to scrub in circular motions especially around those scaly knees and ankles.

3. Tan 'Em Up

We Malaysians are lucky that we're not stuck with pale stick legs! We've got that natural tan that looks extra sexy if we just keep 'em scrubbed and moisturized everyday! If you think your legs are getting a bit too pale, then just go out in the sun more often and get that nice tan. If you're afraid of the sun like most women are, get some self-tanning cream that you can get almost anywhere these days. You should also lather up with lotions that have a shimmery effect that will make your legs look ultra sultry!

4. Get a Flawless Finish

Ok, this happens to me a lot! I get up from the couch and bam! My leg hits the coffee table and I end up with a bruise! That wouldn't look too pretty if you wanna show off them legs now would it? So what do you do? Ice the are a.s.a.p. to prevent it from swelling up. Do this everyday if you're not planning to go anywhere. If you've got that luncheon planned with your girlfriends and you wanna wear your beautiful sundress, then disguise the bruise with concealer and a bit of light reflecting makeup. It works wonders! You can also do this to birthmarks, spider veins or even stretch marks!

5. Pedicure!

It wouldn't do any good if you've got the hottest legs in town, but really ugly toes! It's really important to keep those toes pretty. Remember to have those toenails cut straight and not rounded as it can cause the nails to grow into the surrounding skin. Also, do not forget to file your nails as we wouldn't want your toenails to become your weapon of choice!

If you've got really rough skin around your feet, always buff away those spots with a really good buffer. You can get one at Body Shop. If you wanna save cost, go to your nearest river and take some 'batu sungai' or river stones. They're really good for scrubbing! Seriously!

Lastly, with all that buffing and trimming and moisturizing and shimmering, deck your toenails with a really nice shade! And that's it! You're done! Don't hide beneath those cargo pants and start showing your 'Rihanna legs'

Gifts for Mothers Day

I'm sure most of you are already thinking of ideas as to what to give to your beloved mother~! Of course you'd wanna come up with the best gift to cherish your one and only mother right? After all, mothers only deserve the best~!

But too bad, not all of us (like me!) can afford a really cool gift such as a gift voucher for a day at the spa to give our moms! So here are a few ideas that doesn't require that much money at all but only a whole lotta love from the heart, that will definitely make you eligible for the daughter/son of the year award!!

Surprise Her With Bed-In-Breakfast! Since Mothers Day falls on a weekend, I'm sure there's no excuse to be too busy to prepare breakfast for her! Try to find out what she loves to have for breakfast and surprise her with your own prepared meal in bed! If she happens to love 'nasi lemak', well you could always drive out to get some right? And if she's not the bed-in-breakfast type, set the table with fresh flowers and a card to surprise her! I'm sure that'll set her mood bright and early in the day!

Make A Scrapbook! Collect old pictures of your Mom and the family and make a nice scrapbook with dried flowers, stickers, and decorations that would make her heart melt! This one would definitely hit home~!

Make Your Own Card! If you aren't creative enough to make a whole scrapbook, a handmade card will do.. But creativity doesn't really matter right. She'll appreciate the effort you've put in to make her day special~! So I suggest a scrapbook.. ;P

Send Her A Letter! Write a letter for your Mother and tell her just how much you appreciate her. Be sincere about it. After all, life's too short to feel awkward about letting your feelings known. Seize the day by telling her how much you love her. I'm sure most of us have forgotten to tell our mothers just that~!

Be Her Personal 'Maid' For The Whole Day! Your mother endured 9 months of carrying you around, plus labour!, and has raised you to be the gorgeous person that you are! The least you can do is to be in her service for one whole day. I'm sure she'd really appreciate that~!

Make A Short Home Video! I'm sure most of you are tech savvy enough to be able to create your own home video! So why don't you put your IT knowledge to great use by surprising your Mother with a cool home video you've created. You don't need to be a pro at it.. Just use Windows Movie Maker that's very simple to use and which is already installed in every Windows XP, to create a heartfelt movie of your Mother! For more dramatic effect, find some really sappy songs like 'A Song For Mama' by Boyz II Men to integrate with the movie! This will earn you major pointers!!

It's hot! It's scorching hot! No, I don't mean the weather... Well, actually yeah.. the weather! But what I'm really talking about are this season's shorts tailored for our hot climate! At least it's something we Malaysian babes can pull of without looking silly; like knee high boots and fur coats!

It's the time for us girls to show off our legs and pair 'em with funky flip flops for daytime or those diva stilts for a girls' night out! Although they are a wee bit last year, shorts are still going on strong this season!

For those of you who still haven't got at least a pair, head off to MNG or Zara where you can get multicolored shorts in various lengths! Both tall and short babes can pull it off short! It'll enhance the legs for us, shorter ones! ;) But don't think Kylie Minogue short ok! Keep it chic!

Just remember, when you wanna go short, don't team it up with a plain shirt without any accessories. Well, unless you're going for the 'pasar malam nyonya' look. Pair shorts with trendy tops, funky bangles and a cool bag! That way, your look will never go wrong, whether it's for a hot date, or for college!

Give Yourself Some Lovin'

When was the last time you told yourself you were beautiful? When was the last time you gave yourself a pat on the back for getting through another rough day as a woman? When was the last time you gave yourself a treat for all the hard work you've done for staying alive and kicking?

Well, if it's been a while, then today should be the day you learn to love yourself! I know some of you have already lost self love when your parents told you your grades weren't good enough, or your boyfriend cheated on you and said you were too fat, or the fact that you harassed by the office perv! Well from now on, start pumping yourself with all the positive energy that you once had! Cuz baby, you know that you can't give love until you have love to give!

Forgot how to?? Well here are some great steps to live by from now on!

Stop Self Criticism! Stop letting that lil mind creature in your head tell you that you're not worth it! You know for a fact that you're as good as anybody else. Don't you have anyone say otherwise! Not even yourself! So whenever you hear your thought running negative, counter it by saying something positive about yourself!

Treat Yourself! Buy those pair of shoes you were eyeing last week. Treat yourself with a scoop of that Jamoca Almond Fudge after your crazy diet! You know you deserve it!!

Give Yourself Credit! Acknowledge yourself for all the right things you've done. It doesn't really matter what it is you've done. You don't need to win a Noble Prize in order to feel self worth! Instead, give yourself a hug for driving your sis to school, or for finishing that assignment that took forever, or for picking great shoes to match your bag! ;) Always remind yourself how fantastic you are and that you're doing a great job at it!

Take Care Of Your Body! Make sure you treat your body with loadsa TLC! It's not only the mind that needs loving but your physical body too! Some girls tend to forget they need to exercise, not just to lose weight but to keep fit! The only person that you can totally rely on to love you forever is yourself! Eat lots of vitamins and other supplements! Keep your body healthy and live to 100!!

Accept Compliments! I know most of you girls out there find it so hard to accept compliments! Stop this sort of behaviour as it will only strengthen negativity you already feel about yourself. Next time, learn how to say "Thank You!" or if you're confident, say "I Know!" and end it with a smile! Wouldn't want people to think you're a snob and a half~!! Besides, without saying "Thank You!" or any form of positive reply, some people might feel offended that you didn't acknowledge their generosity! So the next time someone tells you your dress is awesome, stop saying, "Hmmm..he he.." or "Ehhh, No laaah.." "Oh, this dress is old!" or even worse, quickly look the other way and pretend you didn't hear anything in the hopes that someone would change the subject!!
